WiO Spotlight Series: Fostering an Inclusive Academic Environment with Rosario Porras-Aguilar
Join us for a monthly interview with women in the community to learn about their research and their advice to other women in the field. Hosted by 2020 Diversity Outreach Award recipient, Jess Wade, this series is part of our efforts to encourage and inspire women to bring their ideas to light. Stay after for networking in breakout rooms!

Creating an inclusive climate in the competitive world of academia can be challenging, especially given the changes to teaching environments, the uncertainties of research funding, and endless deadlines. Yet the need for students and faculty to feel safe and supported is critical to their performance and fulfillment in their careers.

After Rosario shares about her own research, she will discuss:
- The importance of accountability and empathy in academic relationships.
- How to promote excellence while fostering inclusion.
- Ways to protect yourself and others from burnout.
